Bandanna Quilt on Paper

A recent project of mine was an inspiration to my students when we created bandanna designs in 5th grade art class. I pieced this sample during one of my preps. As the kids worked I perfected some of the hand drawn details in the white paint. As an after thought I added a touch of green marker to some of the images after it was framed with the squares and rectangles around the border.

I had several cloth bandannas in some bright colors like yellow, green, purple and orange! Each of the patterns was unique, but they were all somewhat organized with symmetry of the four sides. Most of the cloth squares had one design image in the center that had radial balance too.

I guess my love for quilting and kaleidoscopes has spilled over to the classroom. To read more about our lesson check out my Gallery 2404 blog.

Hi Kathy! What a fun project to do with the kids. I would have loved doing this in school. Thank you for your kind words on my blog today. I need to get out and enjoy my porch because it looks like snow is coming :( Have blessed day!
